Top Baltic Cities To Visit

I found a very cheap trip to the Baltic regions last month. It is a combination of a bus and cruise trips. For only 499.00 Euros for 6 days, I believed this is already very cheap. Included in the trip are all the tours in different Baltic cities I mentioned below, breakfasts and dinners during the duration of the 6-day trip, cruise, hotel, tour guides in Riga and Vilnius.

The Baltic regions have a lot of sights and attractions for all its tourists and visitors. I am sad not to partake in this trip because during this time, we will be having a 10-day holiday in Turkey.

Riga

This city is said to be the major industrial, commercial, cultural and financial centre of the Baltics. Riga is the capital of Latvia and the largest city in the Baltic States. This city is also known to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. As usual, the Old Town is always the centre of attraction. The best way to see it is by foot. Here, you can see a lot of historical buildings and monuments like the Town Hall, St. Peter's Church, House of Blackheads, Riga Castle are only some of its attractions. Riga is also known for having the best nightlife in Europe. It sounds very inviting!

Tallinn

This is the capital city of Estonia. Being selected as the European Capital of Culture for 2011, Tallinn only shows and proves that its has a lot of interesting tourism activities to share to its guests and visitors. Alone the Medieval Old Town which is excellently preserved is already a must to see when visiting this city. It also belongs to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Some other interesting architectural and historical sites are, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the mythical Toompea Hill, the square in the heart of the Old City named Raekoja Plats, Raekoda or Town Hall, the City wall and so many more. Outside of the Old City has also varied attractions.

Some other evens like the music festivals and sports events are worth to see and experience. If you love beaches, Tallinn has also nice ones. Be careful because some are not recommended for swimming.

Vilnius

The largest and capital city of Lithuania. The fast development of Vilnius has made it to become a modern European city. Along with Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, Vilnius was selected as a 2009 European Capital of Culture. It is another city in the Baltic region that is proud to show of what it has. You need to see its historical Old Town, the Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Castle, St. Peter's and Paul's Church, European Park, National Museum of Lithuania and other attractions that might be of interest to you. Throughout the year, there are a variety of cultural, music, cinema, theatre, art, and fashion festivals taking place in Vilnius.

Sightseeing in other places like Hamburg in Germany , Klaipeda and Kaunas in Lithuania are also included in this trip.

Beautiful Cities To Visit in the Baltic Region

When you are talking about Baltic regions, these might refer to the following;

*Its Baltic states like Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania
*The countries that have shorelines along the Baltic Sea like Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Poland, Russia and the first three ones I mentioned above.

There are still a lot of places and countries to consider when talking about the Baltic Region. There are also a lot of interesting cities to see and to experience in this part of Europe. Whether you will spend a family vacation, a cruise in the Baltic islands, coach tours or a train journey, taking a trip to this beautiful region will be an enjoyable one.

Here are some of the beautiful cities on my travel wish-list in the Baltic region.

Copenhagen

I have a friend who made a trip to Copenhagen around two years ago. She told me that this city is one of the most beautiful cities she visited in Europe. She was truly impressed during their family trip in Denmark's capital. That is the reason why she recommended this city to be included in my travel wishlist.

Copenhagen is well-known for its historical architecture, its many parks, interesting museums, richness in water resources and the bicycle paths that line its streets. A must-see to visit include the Marble Church, Amalienborg Palace, Christiansborg Palace, the City Hall, the former Church of St. Nikolaj and so many more. The museums in Copenhagen can compete internationally. Worthy to visit are the National museum, the National Gallery, The Danish Museum of Art & Design and another important one is the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.

I would love to especially experience the Copenhagen carnival, the Copenhagen Fashion Week and the Copenhagen cooking. Any more suggestions?

Stockholm

This is the capital and largest city of Sweden. Stockholm is a cosmopolitan and global city. It is also a lively and lovely city with its modern Scandinavian architecture, a lot of green areas and fairytale towers. It is the home of the national Swedish government.

I can't imagine that city is made up of 14 islands. I believed visiting it for a day or two is not enough. The sites to visit include the City Hall, the Royal Palace, Gamla stan (the Old Town), the Stockholm Cathedral, the German Church,Stockholm Olympic Stadium and so many historical and modern architecture. Copenhagen has a lot of interesting museums to visit also. Since it is a green city, walking around its parks can be a relaxing and calming trip.

Helsinki

I always wanted to visit Finland especially its capital city, Helsinki. It is one of northern Europe's major cities. It is also the major political, cultural, financial, educational and research center of Finland.
The Helsinki Cathedral is considered to be one of the most prominent buildings and an iconic symbol of the city.credit

Interesting sight to visit is the Senate Square where you can find the Government Palace, University Building and the Helsinki Cathedral. Other sights include the South harbour of Helsinki, The Senaatintori square, Helsinki market square, its Olympic Stadium , The Esplanadi Park and a lot of museums like the The National Museum of Finland.

Countries To Visit in the Baltic Region

I guess it is time to talk about Europe travel again. I have a lot of dreams and wishes for this year. One of it, is to see and experience more places in Europe. There are still a lot of cities and countries that I wish to visit in this continent and I am hoping to see more this year. I wish to spend a holiday in the Baltic regions when time and money are available. Special thanks to a certain Baltic travel site who gives me the ideas and inspiration to visit this region in Europe.

Here are some of the reasons why I wish to visit these Baltic countries;

Lithuania

It is a country located in the Northern part of Europe and the southernmost of the three Baltic states. It is a member of the European Union and Schengen Agreement which also means that when I travel in this country, I don't need anymore a tourits visa. Its capital and largest city is Vilnius. Spending a holiday in Lithuania seems to be very interesting because it is very rich in culture and history. This country is also famous for its sandy coastline. Its marvelous scenery and landscape are worthy to experience.

Estonia

It is located in Northern Europe and one of the least populous countries in the European Union. Its capital is Talinn which is famous for its Christmas market among the Baltic regions. This country is another fascinating holiday destination in the Baltics. Whether you want to spend a spa break or simply enjoy your holiday in its coastal areas, are only some of the reasons why Estonia is one of the charming states to visit in the Baltics.

Latvia

Officially known as the Republic of Latvia, it is one of the Baltic countries which also offer something to its guests and visitors. Whether you want to spend a city break in its capital, Riga or maybe spend a holiday in its 531 kilometers costal area, for sure spending a holiday here is quite memorable and delightful. There a lot of museums and historical monuments to see here.

I was informed that the best time to travel here is from June to September.
