American Friend Will Visit Europe

My friend from the United States is already very excited to visit Europe this coming summer season . She sent me an email last night and said that she has been shopping for a light trolley to bring with her in her travel. She was also asking what will be the weather in Germany especially in Europe during summer time. She also asked me if it is possible that during our sightseeing in other countries, we will just rent-a-car and I go around. I guess that is not a good idea for me because HB does not want me to drive to far places without him. Traveling without him is fine but he won't allow me to drive a car when traveling. I am also not sure if we will get our own insurance when driving rent-a-car. Off topic guys; HB is planning to buy a new car. I believed he will also search for discount auto insurance. I am quite excited for him. I still don't know what car does he want to buy this summer season. if I am not mistaken he is already eyeing a car when I was in the Philippines. This will then be a surprise for me. I will see! Finally I want to wish you a wonderful start of April. I hope that this month will be a better one for all of us!

My Euro Travel in Wolfstein Castle Ruins in Neumarkt in Bavaria, Germany

I would say we presently live near a castle ruin but not the one in Wolfstein Castle ruins in Neumarkt Upper Palatinate in Bavaria, Germany. This place is around an hour drive from where we live. I believed I already shared some pictures from this castle in my other blogs. Feel free to browse them if you want to see more.

I guess pictures tells a thousand words. Here I am striking a pose in this castle.

Travel and Entertainment

Hey peeps! I am here again to give you some travel updates. Do you have funny experiences when you travel? Each and everyone of us has its own experiences when traveling. Sometimes it can be a travel full of fun or sometimes we simply travel just to have fun. I remember one vacation I had in the Philippines where we entered a comedy bar. It is unbelievable how the performers make the people laugh out loud. I believed this is like in LMAO Off-Broadway where you can hear musical comedies or any variety shows that will make you laugh. I also read from their site that this group of performers are so amazing that the crowd will have a non-stop fun when they perform. There is also a part where there is a need for audience participation. This is exactly almost the same of what we had seen before in the Philippines. Hubby can't even forget it because he truly had fun during the show.

If you are bored and want to get out for awhile to have fun, why not visit this kind of show. I always love it. It has always been my dream to visit Broadway. When I have the chance to go to New York next time, for sure this will be one of my itinerary. Peeps, don't forget to check LMAO NYC for your ticket. I have to go now to watch a comedy in TV. I am also sharing a picture taken in Prague, Czech Republic last 2008. Have fun watching the show!

Planning for Summer Vacation

Winter is over! Calendar Spring time is also over in Germany. Yesterday was already the beginning of summer season. I am hoping that this summer will be full of travel and adventure again. A friend from the United States is visiting us and we are planning to have a little tour in Europe. We are planning to spend some days vacation in Holland. I don't have much ideas yet where to go in Holland. I know that Keukenhof garden is a good place to visit. I am thankful that I found some travel tips at Web-Articles. One of the places they featured from Holland is about Volendam. Thanks to this information you provided to us folks. I am quite excited for a Dutch fishing experience.

One thing we also need to find out with this upcoming travel is a place to stay. My friend from the U.S is already starting to search for cheap hotels in Europe. While browsing for this in the net, I also stumbled at Web World Articles. Thanks for your information regarding it. I also found some job opportunities with descriptions in this page. It is quite interesting because I am also currently looking for job. Are you also looking for a job in a hotel? Why not visit this site.

I also found out that we can share our travel experiences with these sites. Isn't it interesting? I might give a try next time. Feel free to visit these sites if you have any topic to share on the web.

Lastly, I am sharing this picture here which was taken in Warwick Castle in England last November 2008. For sure I will share to all of you the images for this upcoming Europe travel.

Visit to Canary Wharf in London, England

I am done with Windsor Castle. Let me share this time about Canary Wharf. My friend from London told me that Canary Wharf is also considered to be one of the financial centers in this area. It is like Manhattan in the United States where you can see tall and high buildings. During my visit here last November 2008, there are still skycrapers that are being erected. I am curious how many millions of industrial supplies are being used in constructing these buildings.

Canary Wharf is Located in East London in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. You can also see here three of UK's tallest buildings which are One Canada Square also known as the Canary Wharf Tower, or even just Canary Wharf, 8 Canada Square and the Citigroup Centre. I am still hoping to see this place once again.

My Euro Travel in Windsor Castle, England

I randomly picked a photo from my picture files for my Euro Travel entry this afternoon. I landed in Windsor Castle in England. Here is the picture taken during our walked around the castle. Before we went there, I told a friend that I don't want to go inside the castle because I know for sure I will pay for entrance when going inside. As we already arrived in Windsor in the county of Berkshire, I changed my mind and decided to pay for the entrance fee to watch inside the castle. I guess it cost around 14.50 Sterling pounds. You can go there by train from London. It is not even an hour ride. Here I am enjoying my walk around the castle. Sad to say, you are not allowed to take pictures inside the rooms of the castles.

My Euro Travel Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria

It is time to travel again! I just made a random choice what city I am going to share for tonight's update. I landed in Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is one of the interesting cities I visited in Europe. I love it here not only because it is the birthplace of the famous song writer and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart but the place itself is truly amazing. Before I forget it let me share first this link for those who are looking for life insurance online quote. In times of emergency having a life insurance is a form of security for our family. To continue with my main topic, this image was taken in Getreidegasse, a famous street in Salzburg which also means Grain Lane in English. This street is considered to be the busiest one being a shopping street as you can see in my photo here. It is also one of the oldest streets in Salzburg. You can also notice the wrought-iron guild signs hanging above the shops here as one of the features of the buildings. I love Salzburg. That is also the reason why I already visited it twice. Maybe comes the third or forth visit next time.

Stop-Over in Doha, Qatar

Good evening folks! I can't sleep so quick so I decided to write some posts in my blogs. The picture you see below was taken during my stop-over in Doha, Qatar last November 2009. This was taken in Soq Waqif, souf which literally mean "standing market". I met some good friends over and they took me to this place. This market is known to be a shopping destination in Doha. Different shops here are selling traditional garments, spices, souvenirs and handicrafts. It is also considered to be one of the top sights and tourist destination in the capital city of Qatar.

Thanks for my dear friend and former co-employee, Jinky and hubby for taking sometime to tour me here and for the wonderful dinner we had.
Lately Souq Waqif became a hotspot for art galleries and workshops, hosting several art galleries and events. It also hosts local concerts during the holiday seasons.....that's me over there!

Ripley's Believe it Or Not Museum in London, England

Anyone visiting London? N ever miss to visit Ripley's Believe it or Not! Here is a great place to see unusual and strange collections such as photographs, artifacts, cartoon panels and other things. It is franchise founded by Robert LeRoy Ripley. This museum can be found in some parts of the world like Ontario in Canada, Bangalore in India, San Antonio in Texas, Orlando in Florida and other cities around the world. London is considered to be the world's largest Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. It was opened on August 20, 2008 at the London Pavilion, 1 Piccadilly Circus. In October 29, 2008, I was there!

Here are some of my picture from this museum.

My Euro Travel in Stratford Upon Avon in England

It was a three weeks vacation I spent in England last 2008. One of the places I visited was Stratford Upon Avon. I believed some of you are very familiar with this place. It is the birthplace of the famous poet and playwright William Shakespeare. For this reason, around three millions of tourist from around the world visit this place every year.

My friend Loloy from UK toured me in this place. That was truly a very nice experience. Three weeks vacation and walking in England can be very tiresome. I developed dark eye circles on my eyes because sometimes we have to go to sleep late after a day trip or wake up early in the morning to catch the bus or train for a sightseeing trip. At least I enjoyed it and gained a lot of experiences in traveling.

The first picture you see above is the birth house of Shakespeare and the building near it is the Shakespeare Museum. Feel free to click the image to enlarge.

a photo I took in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was November 2008 as visited this place and Christmas is around the corner. That is the reason why you see lot of Christmas decorations here.

"Stratford-upon-Avon is a market town and civil parish in south Warwickshire, England. It lies on the River Avon, 22 miles (35 km) south east of Birmingham and 8 miles (13 km) south west of the county town, Warwick. It is the main town of the District of Stratford-on-Avon, which uses the term "on" to indicate that it covers a much larger area than the town itself." wikipedia

Europe Adventure This Summer

It's final! My friend from the United States of America will finally visit me in Europe this summer season. She said this will be her first international travel since she got her American passport. Of course I am quite excited because this will be another adventure in some countries in Europe. I hope that she will bring with her all the basic things she need in her travel including her acne medicine. I want to remind her that because it is very important. It is summer time and also quite dusty. I am still trying to make a tentative itinerary. I have been researching for it since last week. I am trying to find out what is the best way to travel in Europe without spending too much money. I am also expecting some friends from United Kingdom to travel with us and have some fun and adventure. I am hoping and praying that this will be a memorable and safe trip for us. I will share here next time our tentative itinerary.

My Euro Travel to the Festival in Neumarkt, Germany

I did already mentioned and shared some pictures in my Explore Germany site about the Festival in Neumarkt which is called Jura-Volksfest. Most of the visitors of this festival are coming for neighboring places like in the Upper Palatinate region, Middle Franconia, Upper Bavaria and Upper Franconia. You can also find here different rides such as Ferris wheel, roller coaster, free fall and a lot more. Different foods and delicacies are also found in different kiosks and restaurants here. You can also expect beer and bratwurst and other German sausages. I wish to share more pictures and information about this festival next time.

Here are the pictures I had from last year's festival.
on top of Ferris wheel, looking around. HB took these pictures as usual.

I guess that is the octopus ride at my back.

Wolfstein Castle in Neumarkt, Bavaria, Germany

I guess it is time to travel again in Europe. Have you heard about Wolfstein Castle or Burgruine Wolfstein? It is a castle ruin located in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate part of Bavaria, Germany. It is not so far from us, maybe around forty minutes drive. I have been to this castle for some times already. My last visit was in July last year. I always see this castle everytime we drive to Neumarkt. If I live near this castle, I might go walking here everyday. I believed walking is a very good exercise and one way of losing weight. Anybody knows the best diets that work? Anyway, if you want to look closer on the picture of Wolfstein Castle, you can click it to enlarge. I guess you can also see me better if you do that. I also posted more pictures of this castle in my other sites. Feel free to also browse my categories here. Good evening and tschuss!

Happily Blogging for my Europe Travel

I have been happily blogging for some years now. It was first a hobby and now turn into passion. This blog is mostly about my Europe travel where I share the experiences I had during my journey. As you can see this blog still don't have its own domain name. It is still hosted in a free platform. I have been planning for some months now whether to give it its own domain. That is also the reason why I am slowly trying to find a web hosting site that has everything to offer for this site. That is also the reason why I stumbled on Web Hosting Choice which shares about justhost review. WHC rated Just Host number one in their review because of the services they offer. I have not tried this web hosting site yet. Based on the overview given by Web Hosting Choice, I am quite convinced that Just Host is a reliable web hosting site. I can tell you exactly about this site if I already experience their services.

Lastly, the picture you see here was taken in Wuerzburg, written in German as Würzburg. This is the Marienkapelle or St. Mary's Chapel, a Gothic Church. The construction of this church started in 1377 and was finished in 1480 with the erection of a church tower. More Europe experience to come later. Try to find me in the picture above by clicking the photo to enlarge.

My Euro Travel in Venice, Italy

It has been almost four years now since the last time I visited Venice or Venezia in Italy. I had been to this city twice already. The first time was in October 2005 and the second time was in April 2006. I don't have much pictures that time because I was still not a camera or photo addict until 2007. I have here a picture of St. Mark Cathedral or San Marco Basilica as it is called by Italian. Please find below a little history of this Cathedral.
picture I took during my second visit in Venice, Italy last April 2006

The building of St. Mark's Cathedral

The first St Mark's was a temporary building in the Doge's Palace, constructed in 828, when Venetian merchants stole the supposed relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist from Alexandria. This was replaced by a new church on its present site in 832; from the same century dates the first St Mark's Campanile (bell tower). The new church was burned in a rebellion in 976, rebuilt in 978 and again to form the basis of the present basilica since 1063. The basilica was consecrated in 1094, the same year in which the body of Saint Mark was supposedly rediscovered in a pillar by Vitale Faliero, doge at the time. The building also incorporates a low tower (now housing St Mark’s Treasure), believed by some to have been part of the original Doge's Palace. Within the first half of the 13th century the narthex and the new façade were constructed, most of the mosaics were completed and the domes were covered with higher wooden, lead-covered domes in order to blend in with the Gothic architecture of the redesigned Doge's Palace. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mark%27s_Basilica

My Euro Travel in Birmingham, England

I was scanning my picture folders of what city am I going to share tonight. The first one I saw was Birmingham. The picture above was taken in Victoria Square in front of Birmingham City Council House. The fire department staff had a training in front of this building during our visit last 2008. That was quite a very nice visit to this city after a friend named Loloy, showed it to me. Thanks a lot Loy. I truly enjoyed it. Before I sign-off, I also need to take a look of a certain scanning software. I found one in a catalogue this morning. I also want to find out if it is cheaper online. I need one to scan all the old pictures of I brought during my vacation back home. Goodnight folks and see you tomorrow. Have a great week ahead!

Will Be Traveling Again!

I had a conversation last night with my husband. He said that when the weather will get better, we will go driving anywhere and do some sightseeing in any places. I told him that I want to go outside of Germany. There are some places that I want to visit like the Vatican City in Rome, Keukenhof and Amsterdam in Netherland and Boothbay Harbor Maine. I had the chance to visit canary Wharf in England last 2008 and this time I wish to visit Brown's Wharf Inn and take a dinner at Boothbay Harbor Restaurant. This afternoon HB also told me that beginning the month of March, we will try to go out for dinner so oft as we can.

I just visited a travel site and found some pictures of Boothbay Harbor. I found the place very interesting especially the view of the harbor. Good to know that Brown's Wharf Inn offers online specials and vacation packages which I consider to be an advantage for a traveler like me. I wish to stay in their oceanfront view of the Boothbay harbor. I found out that they have all the facilities and amenities that will make one's vacation very memorable. I believed one of the first place I will step in here is their restaurant where they offer fresh seafoods of any kinds. I have to convince HB to take some days vacation here. I know one day, I will visit this place. Of course, I will let you know through my travel blogs.

I also want to let you know that me and a friend of mine from thev United States are planning for a Europe tour this coming August. I am quite excited about it. The picture you see here was taken during our visit to Prague at the River Moldau last September 2008.

My Euro Travel to the Horse Pond in Salzburg, Austria

I believed I already have enough of England during my previous posts. I guess this time, let's go back to Austria especially to the city of Salzburg. I am standing right in front of the so-called Pferdeschwemme in German or the Horse Pond. This was built in 1695. This was where the horses of the archbishops were being washed.

I would also like to share a travel tip for tonight. I know some people who are using credit cards when they travel. There is nothing wrong with that as long as you can pay it back. I am doing the same sometimes especially when emergency arises. Sometimes there are people who get addicted in using credit card not thinking whether they can pay it back or not. I know a friend before who have the same problem. It happened sometimes that when the salary of her husband comes, there is no more left in it that she had to run to me to ask for some financial help. I believed they are always over spending to the point that they can no longer take care of their financial needs. I guess it is time for them to do debt relief. In the US and maybe some countries in the world, there are financial companies who help people get-out from their debts. Federal Consumer Relief is one of the companies in the US who offers assistance to people who have difficulties in paying back their debts. I guess you are lucky because they offer free debt consultation.

For those who are traveling or spending their vacation, be sure to save money first before having fun . I am starting to save some money now because a friend will visit me and we might have a Europe trip in August. I hope it will materialized.

My Euro Travel To The Tower of London in London, England

This post should be written some hours ago but there was an interesting program in the television that hinders me from writing it. Below is a part of the Tower of London which is also called Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress. This is one of the pictures I took during my vacation last November 2008. This palace is located along the River of Thames and was built in the Middle Ages. It's primary function before was a fortress, royal palace and also as a prison. This was where the royal class and the high status people were imprisoned.

I wish to visit this palace again because during our visit last time, we don't have the chance to go inside it.It has also served as a place of execution and torture, an armoury, a treasury, a zoo, the Royal Mint, a public records office, an observatory, and since 1303, the home of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom.

Today the Tower of London is cared for by an independent charity, Historic Royal Palaces, which receives no funding from the Government or the Crown. wikipedia

Searching for Cheap Europe Trips

My friend from the United States already informed me last year that she plans to visit me in Germany this year. I received an email from her yesterday telling me that she is coming sometime in August this year and will spend a three weeks vacation. She was also asking on how we can travel in Europe for a cheaper price. I spent my whole afternoon today trying to search online on how to obtain cheap travels in Europe. There I go, I stumbled on Travelocity coupons. Here you can get travel coupons and discounts on hotels and package vacation of any kind and in any place. They are also giving Southwest promo code where you can avail of cheap vacation deals and packages.

I believed that most people especially travelers like me are always looking for the cheapest possible vacation and trip packages especially with the economic crisis that is still going on right now. Thanks to the promotional codes that are offered by some travel companies wherein we can avail of budget vacation. I already have a partial itinerary for my friend who will visit me and want to see part of Europe in August. I am also researching which European countries are the greatest for sightseeing for my friend. Thanks to all the sites that I visited this afternoon who also gave me some insights on how to have a cheap and budget travel in Europe.

I am also looking to travel to any European countries that I have not visited yet like Belgium, Netherlands, Vatican in Rome, Switzerland and some other more. I will see what will happened to this 3 weeks Europe trip in August. For sure, I will give you updates about it.

The Biggest Cathedral Organ in St. Stephan's Cathedral in Passau, Germany

Have you seen the biggest Church Organ outside of United States? If not this is the chance for you to see it now. I visited Passau twice already and St. Stephan's Cathedral is one of our target. St. Stephan's Cathedral, or "Dom St. Stephan" in German, is a baroque church from 1688 in Passau, Germany. It is the seat of the Catholic Bishop of Passau and the main church of his diocese.

I was amazed by the architecture of this Church especially the inside part of it. Watch out for more pictures next time.
Behind me is the biggest Church Organ outside of US and the biggest Cathedral Organ in the world.

Since 730, there have been many churches built on the site of the current cathedral. The current church, a baroque building around 100 metres (328 ft) long, was built from 1668 to 1693 after a fire in 1662 destroyed its predecessor, of which only the late gothic eastern side remains. The cathedral's overall plan was made by Carlo Lurago, its interior decoration by Giovanni Battista Carlone, and its frescos by Carpoforo Tencalla.

Over time, the Passau Cathedral has acquired the largest organ outside of the United States. It is also the largest cathedral organ in the world. The organ currently has 17,774 pipes and 233 registers, all of which can be played with the five-manual general console in the gallery.

The cathedral has eight large bells in the bell rooms in the north and south towers. The heaviest,"Pummerin" at 7550 kg cast in 1952 and "Sturmerin" weighing 5300 kg cast in 1733 hang in the south tower. The other six bells hang in the north tower. They include: "Misericordia" weighing 6000 kg, the Angelus bell, "Predigerin", "Elfuhrglocken", the Choir bell, and "Dignitar". A ninth bell, the "Zeichenglocke" hangs near the sacristy door. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Stephan%27s_Cathedral,_Passau

I Spent Halloween in Warwick Castle, England

I had the chance to spent Halloween in Warwick Castle in England last 2008. I am always thankful to my friends who accompanied me in my travel especially in taking my travel pictures. I also would to thank their generosity during my three weeks vacation in England. Finding cheap vacation rentals can be very difficult sometimes. I am lucky to have all friends around the world who offers free accommodation during my travel. I am truly blessed having good friends.

You can see in my background Warwick Castle. To give you a little information about this medieval castle, please continue reading. It is a castle located in Warwick in the county town of Warwickshire. It is located along River Avon. Its construction started last 1068 by William the Conqueror. This castle is full of history and interesting facts. We also had the chance to tour inside it and around the castle. I am hoping to share more pictures next time.

My Euro Travel in Paris, France

Weekend is almost here again. I am still not on the mood for weekend escapades because the weather is still very cold. Let's go and visit this time the so-called "City of Lights" which is Paris in France. The picture above was taken right in front of the entrance of Louvre Museum. Last night, I read a travel book and one traveler shared that every time he travels, he always buy collectible pens. That is quite interesting. If he have that hobby, I also have my own. I always collect postcards, fridge magnets, key holders and books about the place. If I forgot it, I don't have to worry because I can surf it at Amazon books. I just remember that it is almost a year now since our visit in Paris. During that visit, I bought a lot of postcards, key holders, fridge magnet and two travel books. That was a very interesting trip and I still want to go back there.

The Astronomical Clock in Prague Czech Republic

I never thought that the astronomical clock mounted on the wall of the Old City Hall of Prague is one of the famous attraction of this city until our travel guide mentioned about it. Thanks to him if not, I might miss taking pictures of this. We visited this city last September 2008 and it was truly very interesting. Here is my below showing some evidence that I was there.
thanks to dear HB for taking this picture. that is also the reason why you do not see him together with me in my travel images because he is my photographer. Thanks mein Schatz!

The Prague Astronomical Clock or Prague Orloj is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The Orloj is mounted on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square and is a popular tourist attraction.

The Orloj is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; "The Walk of the Apostles", a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.

HISTORY
The oldest part of the Orloj, the mechanical clock and astronomical dial, dates back to 1410 when it was made by clockmaker Mikuláš of Kadaň and Jan Šindel, the latter a professor of mathematics and astronomy at Charles University.

Later, presumably around 1490, the calendar dial was added and clock facade decorated with gothic sculptures.

In 1552 it was repaired by Jan Taborský, clock-master of Orloj, who also wrote a report on the clock where he mentioned Hanuš as maker of the clock.

The Orloj stopped working many times in the centuries after 1552, and was repaired many times. In the 17th century moving statues were added, and figures of the Apostles were added after major repair in 1865-1866.

The Orloj suffered heavy damage on May 7 and especially May 8, 1945, during the Prague Uprising, when Germans directed incendiary fire from several armored vehicles and an anti-aircraft gun to the south-west side of the Old Town Square in an effort to silence the provocative broadcasting initiated by the National Committee on May 5. The hall and nearby buildings burned along with the wooden sculptures on the Orloj and the calendar dial face made by Josef Mánes. The machinery was repaired, the wooden Apostles restored by Vojtěch Sucharda, and the Orloj started working again in 1948, but only after significant effort [1].

There exists a good deal of misinformation relating to the construction of the Orloj . For a long time it was believed that the Orloj was constructed in 1490 by clockmaster Jan Růže (also called Hanuš) and his assistant Jakub Čech. Another fictitious story involves the clockmaker Hanuš being blinded on the order of the Prague Councillors. more infos here
